The memorial was created by volunteers in an effort to help those veterans who were not able to fight in the war. This area was often a favorite because it was home to a U.S. base. Many of these men were from the Pacific Northwest. It's sad to think that their sacrifice might have been reversed, but it's good to know there is a place like this in remembrance for them.

The monument is made up of several smaller areas. One area has a photo of each of the veterans placed in various positions. Another area features a bronze military vehicle. In addition, there is a plaque that is displayed in the center of the memorial.

The statue is made from a cast bronze. The left shoulder has a picture of President Abraham Lincoln on it with General Robert E. Lee on the background. The right shoulder has a national flag. It is surrounded by a double circle of laurel. There is a plaque with a description of the sculpture as well as a description of the free tickets given to veterans through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

There is also a free bus tour of the area. This will take you on a journey around the famous historical area. There will be stops where you can stop and take pictures. You will be provided with maps and will probably be asked to pose for a few photos. Afterwards, they will ask you where you would like to go. Hopefully you will choose the same or similar location each time.
