Jim Green Trail
The Jim Green Trail in the City of Atascadero, CA is a portion of the San Miguel National Landmark Trail. It runs about three miles and was created by the Southern Pacific Highlands Bays Trail System. It is located between Grants and Prospect streets in the city of Yountville. Some portions of the trail are in private land owned by the Green family. Other parts are in the county of Yountville.
The trail features beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean, the hills of the San Miguel National Forest and the Mediterranean Sea. Because of the nature of the trail it is not easy to hike due to the uneven terrain. Hikers need to be prepared for the rough terrain. It also has some minor water hazards.
There are about four types of hiking trails that you could enjoy. One is the Green Trail, which is close to the Southern Cross Highway. The other two are the Black Canyon Trail, which is within the boundaries of the Yountville City Park District and the Mount Soledad Trail, which are on the property of the Soledad Lodge. The trail starts off with a one-mile loop where you can cross the railroad tracks. The second mile trail leads you through the beautiful Botanical Garden.
