Little Italy
While in Southern California, visiting the little Italy area of the town of San Luis Obispo, CA was my goal. After driving through mountain roads, hills, and small towns with small, quaint restaurants, it became evident to me that I wanted to make my next dining experience a memorable one. My goal was to find about six places to eat in a reasonably priced, yet cozy, setting. This article will give a brief description of each of the six restaurant locations I visited.
La Costiera Restaurant: Located on Harbor Boulevard just off the Pacific Coast Highway in La Jolla, the restaurant has a wonderful casual atmosphere with casual seating and a great menu. The dishes are reasonable priced and the prices are affordable even for those on a tight budget. If you like your Mediterranean meals cooked fresh right on the grill with locally caught fish and Mediterranean ingredients, this is a great place to eat while in San Luis Obispo. The food is reasonably priced and well worth the stop.
ooters Restaurant: I loveooters! I wasn't able to visit The Originalooter (as it was mostly indoors), but I'll imagine it's a wonderful place to experience all it has to offer. It's located in Olde Town in a part of town that was once an Italian fur trade center. While at the restaurant, you'll hear interesting stories about the old world Italian life. This restaurant also serves some delicious Mediterranean food.
La Dolce Vita: This is another great spot for those seeking about little Italy. La Dolce Vita is housed in a restored nineteenth century warehouse. While at the restaurant, you'll hear stories about the people who created this delicious pasta. You can order your pasta in the same fashion you would have at an Italian market and also enjoy a range of appetizers and desserts.
Trattoria Romantica: While in San Luis Obispo CA, you should not miss Trattoria Romantica. This restaurant serves authentic Italian foods using fresh and local ingredients. Of course, while dining you'll likely be ordering wine. This is a fun and entertaining restaurant where the waitpersons dress in period clothing. There are several seating areas, and you can find some amazing deals at this restaurant.
As you can see, there are many options for food and wine in San Luis Obispo. However, if you want to spend more time in Italy, I suggest you try Zesty Basilata, or any other number of other great pasta dishes. Or, if you're in the mood for more burger food, check out Papiornia Burger Bar. You can find all kinds of items on a menu from sandwiches and steaks to burgers and hotdogs. Whatever you choose, just remember about little Italy. It is a great place to experience authentic Italian food in an authentic setting.
