San Luis Obispo Children's Museum
The mission of the San Luis Obispo Children's Museum is to entertain, inform, and educate children through its many interactive exhibits. There are currently four venues where you can visit to experience San Luis Obispo's Children's Museum. The museum is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Tours are available at all other times of the week.
The permanently closed Children's Museum has a lot of great things to offer, regardless of the day or time you visit. The museum has two big classrooms that are beautifully decorated with molding. There are also many exhibits in all sections including the dinosaur section and the space shuttle simulator. There is also a cafe where you can get some lunch or a snack while looking at the fantastic models and posters of the museum. The permanent exhibits are focused on the culture of the region as well as nature and science.
The second Children's Museum in San Luis Obispo CA is a temporary exhibit in the Visitor's Center Park. It is two stories high with a playground and picnic tables on its second floor. In this one of a kind venue, the children's museum of San Benito County invites you to come in for a walking tour through the grounds. The tours take place during the daytime.
Another popular Children's Museum in San Benito County is the Santa Cruz Museum. This museum was built in the 1930s and still serves as a working museum today. In this one-floor museum you will find the Santa Cruz aquarium, a Natural History Museum complete with a dinosaur track, and two Science Centers plus a large aquarium featuring shark and stingray exhibits. On the second floor, the Children's Museum has a butterfly garden plus a petting zoo featuring butterflies that visitors can feed. The permanent zoo is on another floor.
For those interested in the history of the city of San Benito County, the museum called the Museum of Monterey offers a two-year program called the Voices of Monterey. Here you will hear about the history of the city through interactive exhibits and audio-visual presentations. The second half of this two-year program is a film festival. The first year of the festival was dedicated to a presentation of "The Cutting of the Heart."
One of the most visited museums among the many museums in San Benito County is the Sea World Wetlands. You may visit the natural-life aquarium, go on a nature trail, or just wander through the numerous shops, restaurants, and other attractions in the area. The permanent feature of this three-acre waterfront attraction is the Dolphin Plunge, where people can dive into the water and see the amazing animals beneath the surface. There are also shows that feed the local wildlife. The Children's Museum of Monterey County and the Santa Cruz Museum of natural History offer additional educational benefits to visitors while they are here.
