The Botanical Gardens of San Luis Obispo California were created as a habitat for native plants and flowers, and a place to learn about botany. They are managed by the San Luis Obispo County. The San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden has about fifty acres of devoted land for botanical studies. In the center of the garden are two large ponds with waterfalls that are fed by underground streams.

The majority of the garden's flowers come from southern California and the Pacific Northwest. There are about one hundred seventy different plant species, including three dozen species of flowers. There are also several types of wildflowers. Some varieties grow as tall as six feet. The flower garden was created to help preserve the local flora and fauna.

Besides the gardens, there is a beautiful wooded hiking trail through woods, past bridges and small mountain streams. Dogs can be taken on trail walks with their master. Bring your camera and take pictures of the amazing scenery. A small portion of the trail has been destroyed, so be careful about where you are walking. If you are afraid of falling, do not walk the path after dark.

The most visited part of the San Benito County forest is the Coastal Range Walkway, which is one mile long. This walk is made of wood with benches at the end of the path. At the end, you will see the view of the coastline with the towering mountains in the background. There are also playgrounds, picnic areas, and trails for the kids. The trail is open daily.

The most stunning views are from the Coastal Range Walkway. It starts out by a sandy beach about two miles long. Further along are views of the forest canopy and the rocky cliffs on the shore. The trail ends by the viewpoints of the bay and the mountains in the background. This trail allows you to see many types of trees and wildlife. If you are looking for a nature vacation, this is the place to go.
